Silva wins Arctic Race of Norway after decisive Storheia stage

Guillermo Thomas Silva won the Arctic Race of Norway 2026, finishing ahead of Lennert Van Eetvelt and Alessandro Pinarello in the final GC. Silva also won the youth classification, giving him the race's clearest double reward: the overall title and the best young rider jersey.

How the race was won

This was a compact 698 km race over four hilly stages, which meant the GC was always likely to hinge on one day where the terrain finally created separation. The first two stages set the race up without deciding it outright. Giovanni Lonardi won stage 1 from Evenes to Myre, while Erlend Blikra took stage 2 from Bø i Vesterålen to Andenes.

The decisive move came on stage 3, the 146.5 km route from Stokmarknes to Storheia Summit. Silva won the stage, and in a race without a time trial and with every stage carrying a hilly profile, that was the result that shaped the final GC. When the key selective day arrives in a short stage race, the rider who wins it does more than take a stage result - he forces every rival into a reactive position for the final day.

Stage 4 from Sortland to Narvik was the longest stage of the race at 190.5 km and was won by Cedrik Bakke Christophersen. But the final standings held with Silva first, Van Eetvelt second, and Pinarello third. That makes stage 3 the clear hinge point of the race: Silva did not simply defend his way to the overall, he won the day that mattered most.

Jersey winners

Giovanni Lonardi won the points classification, adding that jersey to his stage 1 victory. Morthen Wang Baksaas won the mountains classification. Silva completed his GC win with the youth classification, underlining that his overall victory was not built on consistency alone, but on converting the race's decisive stage into the final winning platform.
