Guillermo Thomas Silva won Stage 3 of the Arctic Race of Norway, taking the hilly 146.5-kilometre stage from Stokmarknes to Storheia Summit ahead of Lennert Van Eetvelt on the same time.

The result says plenty about how selective the day became. Silva and Van Eetvelt separated themselves from the rest, while Alessandro Pinarello and Robbe Dhondt came in nine seconds down. That is not a huge margin in isolation, but on a hilly stage it shows the race was decided by repeated pressure rather than a simple reduced sprint.

Behind them, the gaps continued to open in small but meaningful steps. Felix Engelhardt finished 15 seconds back, Sebastian Berwick at 16 seconds, Thomas Bonnet at 19 seconds, and Wout Poels at 20 seconds. By the time Fabio Christen crossed in tenth at 26 seconds, the stage had produced a clear hierarchy among the riders who could handle the terrain all the way to the finish.

GC impact

Silva also finished the day as the overall leader. With Van Eetvelt on the same time in the stage result, the sharpest GC separation came behind the front pair, where Pinarello and Dhondt lost nine seconds and the rest of the top ten conceded progressively more.

The important takeaway is not just that Silva won the stage, but that he did it on the day most likely to expose differences in climbing depth and late-stage resilience. A hilly profile with this kind of finish reward tends to punish riders who can survive the climbs but cannot respond when the decisive selection forms. Silva passed that test and now carries the race lead into the next phase.
