What this is for

The Atlas planner lets you draw a route on the map, see its elevation and save it to your library.

The planner is free. Pro adds weather-aware planning and difficulty personalized to your riding.

Start a route

  1. In the top bar, open the menu next to the + button and choose Create route.
  2. Click the map to add your start, then keep clicking to add stops. The planner draws the route between them.
  3. Right-click the map, or click a stop, for more options such as Set as start, End here, Loop back to start and Remove waypoint.
  4. To find a place, use Search a town or landmark.

You can also bring in a route: choose Import a map link or GPX file and paste a Google Maps link or pick a GPX file up to 10 MB.

Choose a surface

Pick the kind of roads the planner should use:

  • Road: Paved roads. This is the default.
  • Gravel: Unpaved + low-traffic.
  • Mixed: Any surface.

Name and save the route

A route needs a name before you can save it. Type it in Route name (the empty field says Name this route).

The planner fills in a name for you in some cases:

  • Starting from a climb: Ride: followed by the climb name.
  • Importing a GPX file: Imported route.
  • Importing a map link: Ride: followed by the start and end, for example "Ride: Town A to Town B".

You can change any of these. Then click Save route. When you edit a saved route, the button reads Save changes.

If the button reads Add a name to save, the name is empty. Add a name and the button becomes active.

Stops

A route can have up to 100 stops. If you add more, the planner shows A route can have at most 100 waypoints.

If you sync a route to Strava, Strava gets at most 50 stops, spread evenly along the route. The route itself doesn't change.

Map controls

On the left of the map, under the place search:

  • Zoom in and Zoom out
  • Zoom to the route fits the whole route on screen. It works once you have a route.

On a small phone screen, the open place search covers these buttons. Close the search to use them. You can also undo and redo changes with Undo last change and Redo.

Troubleshooting

  • The save button says Add a name to save. Type a name in Route name.
  • Your route didn't update. The last change couldn't be routed. Move or remove the stop you just changed and try again before you save.
