Longitud frente a pendiente
Slovenia packs an astonishing amount of climbing into a compact corner of the map, with 15 catalogued ascents that reward riders with hairpins, forest switchbacks and summits reaching as high as 1905 m. The centrepiece is the Vršič Pass, a serpentine giant whose relentless gradients have earned a reputation among cyclists chasing high alpine roads. Alongside it stand Mangart and Predil Pass, each offering its own blend of quiet tarmac and dramatic, hard-won views.
Only one of these climbs carries the coveted hors catégorie rating, making it the true prize for riders testing their limits. But the collection stays varied: gentler efforts like Črnivec give newer climbers a foothold before they graduate to the marquee giants. Whether you are hunting elevation, solitude or a bucket-list summit, Slovenia's climbs deliver a memorable, wheel-turning adventure in a country that rides far bigger than its size.
