Ghost on the Karoo

Ghost races a ghost along the NeverChill route your Karoo is navigating. It shows how far ahead or behind you are, in time.

How to read it

• The value is the time gap. -0:12 means you are 12 seconds ahead of the ghost. +0:30 means 30 seconds behind.
• Green is ahead, red is behind.
• The line under it says the distance in words and what you are racing: "85 M ahead · vs best" or "1.2 KM behind · vs predicted". "Level" when you are together.
• vs best is your best time on this route. vs predicted is a pace NeverChill predicts for you on it. When there is a prediction, the ghost rides that; otherwise your best.
• Before you start, it shows the ghost's time and what it is: "1:42:10", "Best time · route name" or "Predicted time · route name".
• The ghost also rides on the Karoo map, with its gap.

Messages

Load a NeverChill route to race your best	The Karoo is not navigating a route. Load one of your NeverChill routes.
No ghost	This route has no best time and no prediction yet, or it doesn't match a NeverChill route.
Waiting	Getting the ghost ready.
Off route	You left the route. The race picks up when you rejoin.
Sign in	Pair the Karoo again in NeverChill.
No connection	Connect Wi-Fi or the Hammerhead Companion app.
Turned off	Ghost rider is off for your Karoo. Turn it on in NeverChill.

Settings

In NeverChill on the Karoo, under Ghost.

With an alert set, the Karoo says "Ahead of the ghost" or "Behind the ghost" once when the gap passes it. It says it again only after the gap has come back under half of it, and never within 2 minutes of the last alert. Riding along at the threshold is one alert, not one every few seconds.

What it needs

• NeverChill Pro and a paired Karoo.
• The Karoo navigating a route that matches one of your NeverChill routes. Send it from NeverChill to your Karoo.
• A best time on that route, or enough rides for a prediction.

• Ghost and Segment sit well together on a main page: the whole ride and the next few minutes.
