How van Aert won it
The race covered 881 km over five stages, and Van Aert effectively shaped the GC before the race reached its final weekend. He won Stage 1, a 197.2 km hilly route from Aalborg to Aalborg, then backed it up on Stage 2, the 182.9 km flat stage from Glyngøre to Skive, and Stage 3, the 202.9 km hilly stage from Fredericia to Vejle.
That sequence matters because the race did not hinge on a summit finish. None of the five stages was listed as a summit finish, so the decisive pressure came through repeated conversion of different profiles rather than one isolated climbing test. Van Aert winning two hilly stages in the first three days gave him control on the terrain most likely to disturb the classification, while the flat-stage win showed he was not relying on selection alone.
The closing stages
Stage 4, another hilly day from Rudkøbing to Faaborg over 172.6 km, went to Storm Ingebrigtsen. Stage 5, the 126 km flat run from Køge to Rødovre, was won by Rasmus Søjberg Pedersen.
Those results diversified the stage winners late in the race, but they did not change the central story. Van Aert had already built the race around his early dominance, and with three stage wins plus the points jersey, his overall victory was a product of repeated execution across the race's key terrain rather than a single decisive moment.
Final classifications
Van Aert finished first overall, Kubiš second, and Henrik Pedersen third. Pedersen's youth classification win alongside a GC podium was the strongest secondary classification result, while Bech Skot-Hansen took the mountains jersey in a race where the hilly profiles shaped the tactical difficulty even without a summit finish.
