Why we built Neverchill

A short note from the founding team about what we are building, who it is for, and why the world needs another training app like it needs another energy gel flavor.

May 2, 2026

Yes, the world has training apps. Strava, TrainingPeaks, intervals.icu, Garmin Connect, Wahoo SYSTM, Final Surge, and four more we cannot remember off the top of our heads. We have all used most of them. We have all paid for several of them at the same time. We are still using them while we build this one.

So — why another one?

The honest answer

We kept finding ourselves doing the same workflow: pull a ride from one app, paste numbers into a spreadsheet, cross-reference a curve from a third tool, and then explain the result to a friend over Slack because none of those apps actually told us the story. The data was there. The understanding wasn't.

Neverchill is the training log we wished existed. Less drag-and-drop, more "here is what this ride means and what to do about it."

Who it is for

  • People who actually like looking at their data, not just generating it.
  • People who want to understand FTP, CTL, sweet spot, threshold heart rate — not just see numbers next to acronyms.
  • People who have been burned by training apps that locked their data behind a paywall after they had years of rides in there.

If you want gamified streaks and kudos, this is not that app. If you want to be coached by an algorithm that doesn't know your name, also not that app.

What we are building

The short list:

  • A clean, fast log that respects your data and lets you export it whenever you want.
  • Power, heart rate, pace, and load analysis that explains itself.
  • A free tools section that works without an account, because most of the calculators on the internet are slow, broken, or covered in ads.
  • A blog and a glossary (you are in it right now) that take education seriously.

What we are not promising

We are not promising you a watt. We cannot make you faster. Training is the thing that makes you faster. The app is the thing that helps you stop wasting training.

We will probably get some things wrong. We will ship things and then change them. We will write more posts like this one because we believe athletes deserve the truth about software they spend their time inside.

Thanks for being here. Now go ride.
